ATTACHING & DETACHING

Different skid steer loaders have different attachment systems, consult the manufacturer’s manual for

specifics on attachment procedures. The skid steer must be able to meet the required amount of hydraulic

oil (see HYDRAULIC SECTION). The stump grinder attaches to the front of any skid steer that accepts a

universal quick attachment plate. The quick attach locks secure the stump grinder onto the front end of the

skid steer.  It is important that the stump grinder is properly in place and locked. Failure to do this could result

in the stump grinder  becoming detached from the skid steer, causing damage to the unit, skid steer, and

potentially causing injury to the operator and others in the area.

The stump grinder operates off the skid steer existing hydraulic system. Locate the hydraulic line  couplers,

clean the hydraulic quick couplers, and attach the stump grinder’s hydraulic hoses. Follow proper safety

procedures when coupling the hydraulic hoses. Failure to do this could result in serious injury or death to the

operator.

The stump grinder does not come with quick coupler attachments, and the operator should install quick

coupler fittings appropriate for the skid steer. The quick coupler fittings can be purchased from Bandit  Industries,

Inc. if the required sizes are available. Refer to the skid steer manufacturer’s manual for the proper procedures

for attaching and detaching hydraulic hoses.

NOTICE

MACHINE OPERATION

TO ATTACH THE STUMP GRINDER:

1.  Travel the skid steer to the stump grinder attachment.
2.  Position the attachment wedges into the locking hooks on

the universal attachment plate.

3.  Engage the quick attach locks.
4.  Clean the hydraulic quick couplers and attach the hydraulic

hoses to the skid steer.  Consult the skid steer  manufacturer’s

manual for the proper procedures.

5.  Make sure to lock the couplers by twisting the sleeve at

least 1/4 of a turn after connecting. Failure to do this may

result in damage to the hydraulic components.

Follow all safety, maintenance, and operation procedures in the skid steer  operator’s manual, including how

to attach and disconnect implement attachments.

WARNING

!

TO DETACH THE STUMP GRINDER:

1.  Lower the stump grinder attachment to the ground.
2.  Do not exit the  operator’s cab  unless: the cutter head has

come to a  complete stop, the cutter head is setting on the

ground, and the  ignition key is in the  operator’s  possession.

3.  Line up the shoulder groove on the sleeve with the detent

ball and disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the skid steer.

Consult the skid steer manufacturer’s manual for the proper

 procedures.
4.  Disengage the quick attach locks.

5.  Back  the  skid  steer  away  from  the  stump  grinder

 attachment.
