Switching outputs in SIO/IO-Link mode
SIO mode
In the factory default setting the digital outputs Q1 and Q2
are configured as PNP switching outputs. The switching
logic for Q1 is normally open, Q2 is normally closed.
The digital switching outputs can be configured via IO-Link
as PNP, NPN or push-pull output type (parameter 0x00B4).
The switching logic for Q1 can be configured via IO-Link
(parameter 0x003D) as normally open or normally closed.
The switching logic for Q2 is complementary to Q1.
IO-Link operation
Pin 4 is the communication channel (C). Pin 2 is always
high-resistance.
The switchpoint information for Q1 in SIO mode
corresponds to BDC1 in IO-Link mode. When toggling
between IO-Link and SIO mode the settings (switching
logic, switchpoints) remain unchanged.
When operating with NPN output on an IO-Link master
IO-Link communication is still possible, but in SIO mode
the switching state is not evaluated.
When the counting function is enabled other configurations
are possible for Pin 4 and Pin 2 in SIO mode (see Section
