Note 8: Barrier type

The barriers may be active or passive and from any certified manufacturer for FMRC and CSA as long as the barriers comply with
the listed entity parameters.

Note 9: Use in dust atmosphere

Dust-tight conduit seal must be used when installed in dust hazard environments.

Note 10: Multiple protection approvals

A device which has previously been installed without an approved IS barrier must NEVER be used subsequently in an intrinsically
safe system. Installing the device without a barrier can permanently damage the safety related components in the device making
the device unsuitable for use in an intrinsically system.
