Pump Replacement
! IMPORTANT ! It is recommended that only qualified, experienced personnel, familiar with this
equipment, who have read and understood all the instructions in this manual should install, operate
and maintain the system.
! IMPORTANT ! Always disconnect the system from the electric power supply before working or servicing
it. Do not proceed with any maintenance unless the pressure or vacuum has been released, the system has
been allowed to reach ambient temperature, and all fluids have been drained.
Pump
Check pump for leaks, worn vanes, and if bypass valve operates correctly. We highly recommend carrying a spare pump . The
MTC-X pump can be easily changed in a matter of minutes. Spare part kits are also available for all MTC-X pumps. Keep
the pump lubricated and pour oil into pump head for storage.
Pump Replacement
In order to replace the pump, the spin-on filters must be removed. Follow the instructions in the “
Filter Drain
” section before
removing spin-on filters.
1. Remove the suction hose from the tank to allow air into the system. Keep the return hose in the tank.
2. Put the system into
Bypass Mode
(Position #1) (Figure 8.2) to bypass fine filtration.
3. Turn on the pump and run for approximately two minutes to evacuate the majority of fuel within the system.
4.
Since there may be some fuel still within the system, it is suggested to place disposable absorbent towels beneath the
pump.
5. Disconnect the hose clamp from the inlet and outlet to the pump (Figure 9.1).
6. Remove the pump from the base.
7.
Remove fittings from the old pump and reassemble them onto the new pump (noting orientation).
8. Assemble the new pump and reverse the order of operations.
