7. Use a filter filter wrench to remove the clogged filter(s), replacing as necessary. This can be performed during
Bypass
Mode
“or not” while the pump is still running, allowing for pre-filtration during spin-on filter changes.
8. After replacing filter(s), and ensuring the seals are tight, switch the diverter valve back to “
Fine Filtration Mode
”
(Position #2) turn the accessory selector valve back to OFF and continue to polish the fuel.
Note: If a void filter is replacing a spin-on filter, or vise versa, check the seal to ensure it is in good condition before installing.
Note: Ensure seals are tight after replacing filters, or spillage may occur.
Filter Service
There are three types of AXI International filters available (See filter efficiencies at the end of the manual):
1.
The standard 1, 3, 10 or 25 micron spin-on fine filter (FF-1, FFZ-3, FF-10, FF-25)
2.
The 3 or 10 micron water block spin-on fine filter (WB-3, WB-10)
3.
The 1-800 micron filter bags
Changing Bag Filter
The difference between the upper and lower vacuum gauges on the pre-filter vessel shows the pressure differential across
the pre-filter bag. When the needle on the gauge is in the red, it is time to change the bag filter.
1.
Make sure the pump is turned off and place an appropriate container under the drain valve, located on the pre-filter
vessel.
2.
Open the drain valve under the pre-filter vessel. Use the air purge valve on top of the pre-filter vessel to make sure all
fluid has been drained from the system before changing the filter (Figure 5.1).
3.
Once drained, close the drain valve and air purge valve.
4.
Loosen the four bolts at the top of the pre-filter vessel and open the lid.
5.
Remove the filter bag, placing into a bucket to prevent spillage.
6.
Replace the filter bag and ensure the bag is completely extended into the vessel. Secure the lid into place.
Changing Spin-On Filters
The differential pressure gauges on the filter bracket show the pressure drop over each filter. When using a single filter and a
void filter, and the needle reaches the red zone, or 20-25 PSI, the spin-on filter should be replaced. When using two spin-on
filters in series, it is recommended to change filters at half their life to avoid low pump flow rates. On the MTC-X, each gauge
on the tray measures the differential pressure over each spin-on filter, and will indicate when it is time to change the filter
(unless using two filters in series).
1. Follow steps in the “
Filter Drain
” section to remove fuel trapped in the spin-on filters and plumbing.
