Filter Drain
Filter draining is an option that allows removal of enough fluid from the lower branch of the system (and spin-on filters) in
order to avoid the common problem of spilling fuel when servicing filters. This procedure should only be performed when
the spin-on filters become clogged.
1.
Before performing a filter drain, ensure there is no water in the pre-filter vessel. If water is found in the pre-filter vessel
(shown in the sight gauge on the pre-filter) when a spin-on filter becomes clogged, shut the system down and drain the
water from the pre-filter vessel. Close the drain ball valve on the pre-filter when complete (Figure 6.1).
2.
With hoses still connected and in the tank, change the diverter valve to Bypass Mode (position #1 in Figure 6.2).
3. Start the system back up in Bypass Mode.
