PAUSE
PAUSE displays a message on the screen Press Return key to
continue and waits for the user to press the Return key. It is mainly
useful in batch files to allow the user to read the output of a previous
command before it scrolls off the screen.
PING
This utility serves for verifying your Internet connection or for
verifying the availability of a remote server/station. It is basically a
diagnostic utility based on TCP/IP which sends so called ICMP
packets to a given IP address or a domain name.
Used without parameter, it displays help.
Possible commands:
Ping www.avg.com
Verifies availability/response of the
www.avg.com server
Ping -t www.avg.com
Continually keeps sending request
messages to the server until
interrupted by user (using
CTRL+PAUSE/BREAK or CTRL+C)
Ping -n 2 www.avg.com
Specifies the number of requests to
be sent to the given server.
Default value is 4.
Ping -w 200 www.avg.com
Specifies the time limit to wait for
the server reply. Indicated in
milliseconds.
Default value is 4000 (4 seconds)
PROMPT
PROMPT sets the command-line prompt. The string following the
PROMPT command (and the space immediately after) appears at the
beginning of the line when AVG Rescue CD CMI is waiting for input.
PROMPT $q
Sets the command line to equals sign (=).
