ERMINOLOGY
Lane
Passage delimited by 2 units.
DIRAS
Infrared detection technology developed by Automatic Systems.
Reader
Equipment that validates the user's ticket (not supplied by Automatic
Systems).
Maintenance Interface
Tool that allows direction connection of a FirstLane, for configuration,
monitoring, diagnosis & maintenance operations (
see dedicated manual).
Unit
Element delimiting the lane and containing the obstacles and their opening
mechanisms, the detection cells, the control logic, and the readers.
Right Unit
Lane unit located on the right side in passage direction A.
Left Unit
Lane unit located on the left side in passage direction A.
Intermediate Unit
Unit separating 2 lanes and equipped with 2 moving obstacles of identical
dimensions. The intermediate unit is the left unit of one lane and the right
unit of the other lane.
Hybrid Intermediate Unit
Unit separating two different types of lane (FirstLane 960 / 970) and
equipped with 2 moving obstacles of different dimensions.
Obstacle
Element creating the obstruction to passage.
Security
Equipment's capability to prevent violations.
Direction A
Direction of passage for which the CPU board (AS 1190) (15, Ch.3.6. ) is
located in the right unit.
Direction A corresponds to passing from the non-controlled area to the
controlled area.
It is also the conventional direction for defining the right and left units.
Direction B
Direction of passage contrary to direction A.
Direction B corresponds to passing from the controlled area to the non-
controlled area.
Safety
Protection of users during use of the equipment.
CA (Controlled Area)
Area located after the obstacle, in direction A (= Exit).
NCA (Non-Controlled Area)
Area located before the obstacle, in direction A (= Entry).
PRM
Abbreviation of Person with Reduced Mobility.
