Glossary

OpenVPN

Open-source software used to set up secure connections via a Virtual 
Private Network (VPN).

Outbound Proxy

Intermediate server that processes all VoIP requests and connections going 
to the provider (except registration).

P

PIN

Personal Identification Number - multi-digit secret code that has to be 
entered to get access to services or authorisations.

PoE

Power over Ethernet - method by which a small devices in a network, for 
example, VoIP telephones, receive power over an Ethernet cable. This 
benefit of this is that there are fewer power cables to deal with.

PoE is described in the IEEE 802.3af standard.
