3 Setting
up
3.1 Safety
Information
NOTE:
Before setting up, it is essential that you read the safety information at the
beginning of this manual.
3.2
Check contents of pack
The following items are supplied:
one base station
one mains cable
one mobile unit with belt clip
one instruction manual
one telephone connecting cable
two rechargeable batteries
3.3
Connecting the base station
Position the telephone near to your telephone connection socket and to a mains socket.

Insert the plug of the power supply into the socket on the underside of the base
station and plug the power supply into a properly installed 230 V mains socket. The
plug-in power supply for the base station must always be connected. For safety
reasons, use only the plug-in mains power supply provided.

Connect the telephone cable supplied to the telephone socket and the telephone
jack on the underside of the base station. Use only the new telephone cable
provided.

Finally, run the two cables through the cable channels to the rear.
3.4 Fitting/changing
batteries
Open the battery compartment cover by sliding the cover
downwards and insert the new batteries. Take care to ensure that
the polarity is correct and close the battery compartment cover.
Use only rechargeable batteries, type AAA 2 x 1.2V, 750mAh.
Important note:
Place the mobile unit on the base station with the display to
the front for at least 16 hours. The telephone may malfunction if the batteries
are not properly charged. The indicator light on the base station
always
illuminates when the mobile unit is charged.
3.5
Battery capacity
The rechargeable batteries for your telephone have a stand-by time of max. 120 hours
at room temperature and a maximum talk time of up to 8 hours.
The current battery capacity is shown in the display by means of the symbol
.
If the handset must be loaded again, you hear a warning tone. Place your phone on the
base unit for charging as soon as possible or it would turn off when it is out of battery.
When the mobile unit is correctly located on the base station, you will hear a short tune
in confirmation.
3.6
Setting the time
Before using the telephone, you should set the current time. You will find more
information in Chapter 7.1.
