5.1. GENERAL
This section includes information on maintenance and general procedures.
The operator must know the general operation of the machine, and know how to check it, and
maintain it properly in order to use it safely. In no event does this part replace the preventive
maintenance programme, it is merely a tool helping the operator in daily maintenance. To know
the frequency of maintenance operations, please refer to the table of lubrication points, and that in
the inspection guide (next pages).
5.2. CLEANLINESS
To preserve the lifetime of your machine, it is important to maintain spare parts clean at all times.
The packaging of the gaskets and filters guarantees cleanliness of the air and lubricants
contained. It is important that these conditions are observed. Whenever oil or lubricant leaks from
ducts disconnected during removal, it is important to have clean parting surfaces; this prevents
foreign matter from entering the lines. The same conditions concerning cleanliness are applicable
to mechanical parts.
Clean and inspect all parts. Check that all openings are clean. Cover the parts to protect from dust
or liquids.
Check that the parts to change are clean before installing them. Remove traces of oxidization from
parts intended to receive new components.
5.3. ELECTRIC WIRES AND CABLES
Before removing or disconnecting a wire harness, mark them to ensure they will be reconnected
properly.
Ensure the connections are always clean to prevent any false contacts.
5.4. SCREWS
Lock washers or lock nuts are used to lock the bolts.
Always use new locking parts on components with moving parts (more particularly screws and
washers of the orientation crown gear) and choose only screws class 8.8 minimum.
5.5. SEALING
If a gasket must be changed, use a component recommended by the manufacturer. Never forget
that an inappropriate gasket may cause serious damage. After each disconnection of part of the
hydraulic circuit, check the oil level.
