Serial Port Protocol
Data may be transmitted from the serial port in two formats, ASCII and BINARY, depending
upon which option is selected. To select an option, use the down arrow when the Diagnostic
Menu is displayed until Serial Port Protocol is highlighted. Press [SELECT] until the desired
protocol appears in reverse video. Then use the arrows to go to the next option, or press
[MENU/EXIT] to exit. If a user is interested in acquiring data from the serial port, consult with an
Aspect representative and request the Aspect A-2000 Serial Port Specification (P/N 070-0017).
See back cover for contact information.
Extended Memory
The extended memory feature records and stores into memory BIS, EMG, SR, SQI, and
Burst/Min values at one-minute intervals for a period of up to 409 hours of active monitoring.
These values are accessible to the user via the BIS Log display. This information will remain in
memory (until overwritten) and can also be retrieved with the assistance of qualified Aspect
personnel via the external serial port, subject to appropriate provider consents. The customer
retains rights to access this data and Aspect will not access the data without permission of the
customer. Occasionally, Aspect may seek such permission to evaluate performance of the A-
2000 monitor and to provide user feedback.
ICU Mode / Extend Mode
When the ICU mode is set to ON, the BIS smoothing rate is set to 30 seconds, Alarm Suspend
is set to ON (so that alarms will only be silenced for 2 minutes), and the BIS Log interval is set
to 60 minutes. These individual parameters can be reset to other values independently. When
a BIS Extend sensor is attached, the system automatically switches to these same settings.
Return to Advanced Setup Menu
Press [SELECT] when this option is highlighted to return to the previous menu. To return to the
Main Screen, press [MENU/EXIT].
