Upgrade Process Steps
Follow these steps to upgrade the FTM firmware:
1. Copy the
axp640_fantray-upgrade-x_xx_xxx.hex
file to the
/tmp
directory on the active Shelf Manager.
2. Execute the following command to upgrade FTM3:
ipmcUpgrade.sh 54 1 axp640_fantray-upgrade-x_xx_xxx.hex
3. After a successful upgrade, the
ipmcUpgrade
script displays the current firmware
level reported by the device as shown in FTM Upgrade Sample Output on page 126 .

The sample output for these commands for one FTM is shown below.

The /tmp directory on the shelf manager is mounted to ram; this copy of the file will be
deleted on the next reset of the shelf manager. If you want to save the file to flash, copy it to
the /var/nvdata directories on both shelf managers.
Fan Tray hardware has two components to be upgraded. One is IMC and the other is ISC.
These components can be upgraded individually using the target option as 1 or 2. However,
upgrading IMC automatically upgrades ISC firmware but upgrading the ISC firmware does
not upgrade the IMC.
Executing ipmcUpgrade script stops the shelf manager daemon.
