chipped or distorted splines, or discoloration.

7. Inspect shift forks for excessive wear, galling of
wear surfaces, or discoloration.

8. Inspect shift cam assembly for worn cam grooves,
broken springs, damaged thrust bearings, or thrust
washer.

9. Inspect transmission case halves for loose bear-
ings, discolored bearing pockets, filings, or dam-
aged threads.

10. Inspect shift cam detent stopper and shift cam
detent for worn rollers or broken spring.

11. Inspect bearings for discoloration, flaking, or
roughness and binding when turning.
12. Inspect and thoroughly clean all bearing pockets,
thread bores, and plug openings to remove any
metal filings or dirt accumulations.

13. Clean all parts to be used for assembling in
parts-cleaning solvent; then dry with compressed
air.
