Remove the metal residues from the
drain plug (6) magnet.
U
Check and if necessary replace the seal-
ing washer of the drain plug (6).
Change the sealing washer of the drain
plug (6) every 12000 km (or every sec-
ond engine oil change).
U
Screw and tighten the drain plug (6).
Driving torque of the drain plug (6) posi-
tioned on the engine: 40 Nm (4 kgm).
Clean the engine oil filter positioned on
the frame (7) every 12000 km (or every
second engine oil change).
Prepare a pipe clamp (8) to re-
place the original one (special
type).

Loosen the clamp (9) and disconnect the
pipe (10).
U
Unscrew and remove the engine oil filter
positioned on the frame (7) and clean it
with a compressed air jet.
U
Check the seal of the engine oil filter po-
sitioned on the frame (7), screw and
tighten it.
Driving torque of the engine oil filter po-
sitioned on the frame: 35 Nm (3.5 kgm).
U
Connect the pipe (10) and tighten the
new clamp (8).
Change the engine oil filter after the
first 1000 km and successively every
6000 km (or every time you change the
oil).
U
Unscrew the two screws (11) and re-
move the cover (12).
U
Remove the engine oil filter (13).
U
Spread an oil film on the sealing ring of
the new engine oil filter.
U
Fit the new engine oil filter.
U
Put back the cover (12), screw and tight-
en the two screws (11).
U
Pour about 1600 cm
#
of engine oil
through the filling opening (14), see p. 68
(LUBRICANT TABLE).
U
Tighten the plug/dipstick (1).
U
Start the engine, see p. 30 (STARTING)
and let it idle for about one minute, in or-
der to ensure the filling up of the engine
oil circuit.
U
Unscrew and extract the plug/dipstick
(1).
U
Pour other 600 cm

of oil through the fill-
ing opening (14).
U
Check the oil level, see p. 39 (CHECK-
ING THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND
TOPPING UP)).
