This chapter will explain how to record DVD discs from external sources by using the remote
control. Please note that some recording functions can only be completed by using the On-
Screen Display. Please refer to Chapter 3-2: RECORD/DISC Setup for details. (Page 47)
Before recording, please read the following instructions.
1. Before schedule recording, verify the date and time setting in for ma tion is correct. For
details, please refer to Chapter 3-5: SCHEDULE Setup on page 58 for further information.
2. Verify that the DVD Recorder is connected to your external equipment correctly. Please
refer to the enclosed Quick Connection Guide for further information.
3. Make sure to use the proper disc (with free space) for recording. This unit is designed for
recording DVD+R/DVD+RW discs only.

Before Recording
Please check the following if unit does not record.
(1) Verify correct placement of the disc, is it upside down?Is it scratched or dirty?
(2) Compatible disc formats. Use only DVD+R or DVD+RW for recording.
(3) Is there enough free recording space on the disc?
(4) Unplug the unit from your AC outlet for 30 seconds. Plug the unit back in, turn
the power on, then place the disc back on the tray, and try again.
(5) Did you cycle through your TV’s video inputs to fi nd the DVD title you recorded
(video 1, video 2, etc.)?
Recording Troubleshooting
Recording Type
There are two types of recording; TYPES: Normal and Schedule recording. Please refer to
the appropriate section.
Before recording, read through the explanations to have a better understanding of the
behavior of each recording type.
1.Normal recording: This is a continuous recording, a new recording will be placed after the
previous recorded title.
2.Schedule recording: This is a scheduled recording, a new recording will be placed after
the previous recorded title.
