ANSUL Fire Suppression/Securing Systems
Operation and Maintenance – Model 100/30
To return the ANSUL system to service after use:
1. Pull ring pin and close BLACK Dry Chemical Valve on dry
chemical tank piping.
2. Pull ring pin and open BLUE Hose Clean-Out Valve on dry
chemical tank piping.
3. Pull ring pin and close BLACK AFFF Valve on AFFF solution
tank piping.
4. Pull ring pin and open BLUE Hose Clean-Out Valve on AFFF
solution tank piping.
5. Open the dry chemical and AFFF nozzles individually to clear
hose-lines of dry chemical and AFFF solution, then close.
6. Close nitrogen cylinder valve by completing the following
steps:
a. Turn handwheel counterclockwise to fully open position.
(See Figure 1.)

b. Push operating lever toward valve body while rotating
cross-shaft flat clockwise (when facing cross shaft from
end with flat) to stop position. (See Figure 2.)

7. Open the dry chemical and AFFF nozzles until all pressure is
relieved from tanks, piping, and hose-lines, then close.
NOTICE
Hold the dry chemical nozzle open for at
least five minutes following the last audible
release of nitrogen gas.
8. Ensure remaining dry chemical is dry and not caked. If tank is
empty, make sure the tank is completely dry before adding dry
chemical to tank. Fill dry chemical tank by completing the fol-
lowing steps:
Be careful when removing fill cap(s) as tank(s) may be pres-
surized.
• If fill cap has a red indicator stem in the up position, pres-
sure must be relieved from tank.
• If fill cap vent starts relieving pressure while opening the fill
cap, stop and let all pressure vent before removing cap.
• If fill cap is difficult to remove, pressure must be relieved
from tank.
Refer to page 4, steps 1 - 5 to confirm tank pressure is
released. Attempting to remove fill cap when tank has pres-
sure could result in personal injury or damage to property.
a. Remove fill cap and place funnel in opening.
b. Fill tank to rated capacity with
only
the ANSUL dry chemi-
cal specified on the nameplate. ANSUL dry chemical
should not be more than 6 in. (152 mm) from bottom of fill
opening.
c. Clean fill opening threads and gasket seating surface.
d. Examine fill cap gasket for elasticity, cuts, or weather
checking. Clean and coat gasket lightly with a good grade
of high heat-resistant grease, then replace.
e. Inspect threads in fill cap and on fill opening for nicks, burrs,
cross-threading, and rough or feathered edges. Clean and
coat fill cap threads lightly with a good grade of high heat-
resistant grease. (Make certain gasket is in place before
reinstalling fill cap.)
