MAINTENANCE
4.1
GENERAL PROCEDURES
4.1.1 Maintenance Precautions
WARNING
WHENEVER MAINTENANCE IS TO BE DONE ON THE ANTENNA ENSURE THAT ALL
POWER TO THE ANTENNA HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND THE ANTENNA IS SHUT
DOWN.
PUT THE SAFETY SWITCH IN THE SAFE POSITION AND INSERT THE PEDESTAL STOW
PIN PER THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THE PEDESTAL MAINTENANCE
PROCEDURE.
a.
If testing under power is required, use insulated test probes and keep hands and fingers clear
of high voltage circuits.
b.
Refer to schematics for high voltage circuits
SAFETY NOTICE
The attention of operating and maintenance personnel is directed to AFP 6030.5 Maintenance of
Electronics Equipment, or to the superseding document, for instructions on the subject of radio safety
precautions to be observed. This equipment employs voltages that are dangerous and may be fatal if
contacted by operating personnel. Extreme caution should be exercised when working with this
equipment. While every practicable safety precaution has been incorporated in this equipment, the
following rules must be strictly observed:
KEEP AWAY FROM LIVE CIRCUITS:
Operators and maintenance personnel must at all times observe all safety regulations. Do not change
plug-in components or make adjustments inside equipment with high voltage supply on. Under
certain conditions dangerous potentials may exist in circuits with power control in the OFF position
due to charges retained by capacitors. To avoid casualties always remove power, then discharge and
ground by use of a grounding rod, prior to touching any parts.
