a)
Ensure that the connector and cable is completely dry and clean before applying weatherproofing tape.
b)
Wrap the connector with 3/4" wide vinyl electrical tape starting at the connector joint, finishing with one
full wrap of tape on the cable jacket. This layer of tape aids in removal of the fully weatherproofed tape
joint for maintenance inspection.
c)
Wrap a second layer using the self-sealing rubber tape making sure to have at least one wrap of self
sealing tape past each end of the vinyl electrical tape. The tape should be stretched to about 75% of its
width when wrapping to ensure a watertight seal. Overlap the tape in half wraps during the wrapping
process. Squeeze the self sealing tape to ensure the tape forms to the connector.
d)
Wrap a final layer of vinyl tape to completely cover the middle layer of self-sealing tape. The top layer
of vinyl tape will prevent flowing of the self-sealing tape and protect against dust and dirt adhering to
the sticky surface of the sealing tape.

SSR Coaxial Cables- Figure 3-11
The three coaxial cables should be routed together as shown and attached to antenna backstructure
using cable Ties (item 10) at one foot minimum intervals. Make the following connections from the
SSR antenna to the Rotary Joint:
a.
Connect coaxial cable > SSR Sum. Cable W006' (item 9) from the connector on the SSR to the
Channel 4 connector on the Rotary Joint.
b.
Connect coaxial cable > SSR Diff. Cable W005' (item 8) from the connector on the SSR to the
Channel 5 connector on the Rotary Joint.
c. Connect coaxial cable > SSR Cont. Cable W004' (item 7) from the connector on the SSR to the
Channel 6 connector on the Rotary Joint.
d. All connectors must now be wrapped with weatherproof tape from Connector Weatherproofing Kit
(item 13). See Paragraph 3.3.11.1.i for wrapping procedure.

Grounding Cable - Figure
3-10
The Grounding Cable Assembly (item 12) is complete with a 2-13 x 1.75 @ LG. Hex screw, nut,
flatwashers (2), aluminum flatwasher and lockwasher at one end and a 2-13 X 3.0"LG. Hex
screw, nut, flatwashers (2), aluminum flatwasher and lockwasher at the opposite end.
