Section 5 Peripheral Setup
Choose Peripheral Setup from the AMIBIOS Setup main menu. All Peripheral
Setup options are described below.
Onboard Floppy Controller Set this option to Enabled to enable the floppy drive controller (FDC)
on the motherboard. The settings are Auto (AMIBIOS automatically determines if
the floppy controller should be enabled), Enabled, or Disabled. The Optimal and
Fail-Safe default settings are Auto .
Onboard Primary/Secondary IDE This option specifies the IDE channels used by the onboard
IDE controller. The settings are Disabled, Primary, Secondary, or Both. The
Optimal and Fail-Safe default settings are Both.
Onboard IDE BusMaster Set this option to Enabled to specify that the IDE controller on the
PCI bus has bus mastering capability. The settings are Disabled or Enabled .
The Optimal and Fail-Safe default settings are Disabled .
Onboard Primary Prefetch Set this option to allow prefetch of information from the IDR disk
drives by the primary IDE controller. The settings are Disabled, Master, Slave,
or Both . The Optimal and Fail-Safe default settings are Disabled .
Onboard Secondary Prefetch Set this option to allow prefetch of information from the IDR disk
drives by the secondary IDE controller. The settings are Disabled, Master, Slave,
or Both . The Optimal and Fail-Safe default settings are Disabled .
Offboard PCI\ISA IDE Card This option specifies whether an offboard PSI/ISA IDE card is
used in the computer. You must also specify the PCI\ISA expansion slot on the
motherboard where the offboard PCI\ISA controller card is installed. If an
offboard PCI\ISA controller is used, the motherboard onboard IDE controller
is automatically disabled. The settings are
Absent, ISA, PCI Slot1, PCI Slot2,
PCI Slot3, PCI Slot4, PCI Slot5, or PCI Slot6. The Optimal and Fail-Safe
default settings are Absent.
