UPGRADING from ADGUI version 1.01

Excalibur version 2.0 contains numerous improvements and
changes from ADGUI version 1.01.  As a result, some of the
data files have changed format.  In order to use existing
ADGUI data files (.MAP, .ICN, .SDB files) these files must be
converted to the new formats.  A file translation program is
included with Excalibur to do this.  If you have not upgraded
the files to the new formats, Excalibur version 2.0 will operate,
but existing icons will not be visible on the screen and alarms
will not annunciate properly.

Also note that the installation program for Excalibur version
2.0 creates a new program group, “EXCALIBUR” and installs
the program files in a new (default) disc directory,
“C:\EXCALIBR”.  This means that any existing ADGUI
version 1.01 program files can be retained in their existing
directories and in the existing program group “ADGUI”.  After
installing the new Excalibur version, delete the ADGUI
version 1.01 files and program group/icons if desired.

Use the following procedure to install Excalibur version 2.0
and translate existing data files to the new formats:

1. After installing the Excalibur version 2.0 program on the

PC (see page 1-4), copy all data files from the old data
directory (used for ADGUI version 1.01) to the new data
directory defined for Excalibur 2.0.  (The default data
directory is “C:\EXCALIBR\DATA”.)

Copying the files to the new directory allows you to keep
the old files until you are sure that your new software is
setup and functioning properly.  The old files may be
deleted at a later time if desired.  It is recommended that
you make a backup copy of the files on a floppy disc
BEFORE you upgrade to the new file formats.

2. From the Windows Program Manager, select the “File”,

then “Run” menu items.  Type in the drive and directory
where the Excalibur version 2.0 program files are located,
then type:

“EX1TO2.EXE”.

Example:  “C:\EXCALIBR\EX1TO2.EXE”.

Next, press “OK”.  The translation program starts, asking
for a password.  The operator must have system setup status
to run this program.

3. After logging in, a dialog box is displayed by the translation

program requesting the user to set the new data directory.
Select the same data directory that was specified in step 1
above for copying Excalibur 2.0 data files.  (The default
data directory is “C:\EXCALIBR\DATA”.)

4. After entering the password, select the “Upgrade Files”

menu item.  The translation program automatically
upgrades the .ICN and .SDB files.  Message boxes notify
the user when each group of files has been upgraded.  If an
error is encountered or if the files are already version 2.0
format, error messages notify the user of the error.

The program then copies the existing TOUCHPAD.INI file
into a new file named EXCALIBR.INI.  The old file is
saved as TOUCHPAD.OLD, and may be deleted if desired.

5. After the file upgrade is complete, select Exit from the

translation program menu bar.

6. Use the Excalibur 2.0 System Setup Program to define any

desired sound files or video file options.  Use the Excalibur
2.0 Icon Setup Program to verify or modify the icon setup
data to take advantage of new features, such as operator
instructions or new alarm camera callup modes.

Excalibur version 2.0 is now ready for operation.

CHANGING from EXCALIBUR SE to EXCALIBUR

Excalibur SE uses the identical data file formats as Excalibur.
The only difference is that the Excalibur SE installation
program creates a default program file directory named
“C:\EXCAL_SE”.  Any existing Excalibur SE data files are
stored in the data directory under this directory (the default
data directory is “C:\EXCAL_SE\DATA”).

To change from using Excalibur SE to Excalibur:

1. Ensure that the proper HASP plug is plugged into the

printer port.  The HASP plug supplied with Excalibur SE is
for use only with the SE version (see page 1-3).

2. After installing the Excalibur version 2.0 program (see page

1-4), copy all data files from the old data directory (used for
Excalibur SE) to the new data directory defined for
Excalibur 2.0.  (The default new data directory is
“C:\EXCALIBR\DATA”.)

Example, copy  from: C:\EXCAL_SE\DATA\*.*

to: C:\EXCALIBR\DATA\*.*

3. Use the Excalibur Setup Programs to add new icons or

modify the icon setup data to take advantage of additional
features, such as alarm and second switcher callup.

4. After any desired changes have been made to the setup data,

Excalibur version 2.0 is ready for operation.
