EXCALIBUR CAD PROGRAM

The Excalibur CAD program allows the user to draw
individual maps of security area scenes/floor plans and to place
security icons onto these map images. The map images can
provide several views of the same areas, different orientations
of the same area, close-up details of specific areas, and overall
views of the entire facility/area, as desired by the user.

The separate map images are linked together in a viewing
sequence by the System Setup Maps function (page 2-8).
Icons for security resources can be placed in any location of
any map image. Unique Map icons allow the user to quickly
select and move to related map images, such as a detailed
image of a certain area, or the overall view of the facility.

Excalibur CAD creates two (2) types of files for each map.
The first is the .MAP file. This is the actual surveillance area
drawing, containing a background, objects, and text. The
second file is the .ICN file. This is the data file identifying the
icons that have been placed on the .MAP file. The .MAP file
and the .ICN file for each map scene MUST have the same file
name, except for the .MAP or .ICN extension.

The .MAP and .ICN files may be created and edited
individually. The .MAP file image may be rescaled or scrolled
on the screen, and saved in any scale size. When subsequently
used for surveillance, the .MAP image is scaled as it was
saved. The icons, however, are placed relative to the screen
coordinates, and can not be rescaled or scrolled. Therefore, it
is recommended that the .MAP drawing be completed and
saved first, and THEN place the icons and create the .ICN file.

Icons may be placed, moved, or deleted at any time, but if the
.MAP image is rescaled, the icons won't be located the same
relative to the new .MAP file image. A warning is displayed if
the image is rescaled while icons are on the screen (see Image
menu, page 4-10).

The Excalibur CAD program is started by opening its icon
from the Excalibur Program Group window. To run Excalibur
CAD, the user must have System Setup privilege.

When Excalibur CAD is started, a dialog box is displayed, as
illustrated below, asking for a password.

Enter the password from the keyboard and press the enter key.
Passwords are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as
entered during the setup for each operator.

Following correct entry of the password, the Excalibur CAD
window provides the following menu functions:

Options
Image
Description
About

Each menu function is selected by clicking the mouse pointer
on the menu bar name or by pressing the Alt key plus the key
that is underlined in the menu name.

The “About” function in any of the Excalibur programs
displays a Copyright box identifying the program version
being executed.
