Checking the suitability of the tractor
WARNING
Danger of machinery breaking during operation; insufficient
stability and insufficient tractor steering and braking power is
possible when tractor is improperly used!
•
Check the suitability of your tractor before you attach or connect
the implement.
You may only connect the implement to tractors suitable for the
purpose.
•
Perform a brake test to check whether the tractor achieves the
required braking delay with the implement connected.
Requirements for the suitability of a tractor are the:
•
approved total weight
•
approved axle loads
•
approved drawbar load at the tractor connection point
•
load capacity of the installed tires
•
approved trailer load must be sufficient
You can find this data on the identification plate or in the vehicle
documentation and in the tractor operator’s manual.
The front axle of the tractor must always be subjected to at least 20%
of the base weight (empty weight) of the tractor.
The tractor must achieve the brake delay specified by the tractor
manufacturer, even with the implement connected.
6.1.1
Calculating the total tractor weight, axle loads, load capacities and minimum
ballast
The approved total tractor weight specified in the vehicle documenta-
tion must be greater than the sum of the
•
base tractor weight
•
ballast weight
•
implement's total weight when attached or trailed
