
DM8 MP SERIAL NUMBER RESET PROCEDURE

THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD ONLY BE RUN ON A UNIT THAT HAS THE INCORRECT SERIAL
NUMBER PROGRAMMED TO FLASH.
(Check for this by rebooting while holding
[REC]+[STOP] and
pressing [PLAY]. Compare the displayed number to the serial number
sticker on the bottom of the unit.)
Materials Needed
•
1- DM8
•
1- OLD serial number barcode sticker
•
1- NEW serial number barcode sticker
•
1- DM8 Power Supply
•
1- USB cable
•
1- PC running Windows XP
•
DM8 Serializer application
•
1- barcode scanner (such as Unitek MS210-1BG- must use USB keyboard driver)
Procedure
1.
Connect barcode scanner to PC
2.
Connect DM8 to PC using USB cable.
3.
Power on DM8 module while holding the [REC] button. You must release the [REC] button after the
display backlight comes on but before graphics appear on the display.
4.
Hit Cancel if a “Found New Hardware Wizard” appears on the computer screen.
5.
Open the DM8 Serializer Application
6.
Select the DM8 MIDI port under the “MIDI Interface” dropdown menu. This port should be called
“USB Audio Device”.
7.
Hold the [PREVIEW] button and scan the OLD serial number sticker
8.
Look at the DM8 screen and make sure that it displays the serial number from the OLD barcode
sticker.
9.
Press the following buttons in this order:
[REC], [F1], [F1], [F4], [METRO], [METRO], [F3], [F2]
10.
Hold the [SEQ] button and scan the NEW serial number sticker
11.
Look at the DM8 screen and make sure that it displays the serial number from the NEW barcode
sticker.
12.
Disconnect USB from the DM8
13.
Reboot the DM8 while holding [REC]+[STOP]
14.
Press [PLAY]
15.
Look at the last 5 digits of the number displayed on the screen and make sure that they match the last
5 digits of the NEW sticker on the unit. At this point, only the NEW barcode sticker should be
attached to the unit.
If you did any of these steps incorrectly the reset will not work. You must reboot the unit and repeat this
procedure exactly.
