Ethernet ports connections
These connections are achieved through connectors from AP1 to AP 11 of the port units, and from AP12 to
AP25 of the Access units (see Figure 34 on page 62).
The modules are inserted into the assigned slots and in compliance with the configuration of the port units to
connect.
The relationship between the port units and the access units is illustrated in Figure 33 on page 61.
NB: A maximum of six Ethernet wired unit can be inserted, equally distributed, e. g. three units in the slots
from 24 to 31 and three units in the slots from 32 to 39.
Anyway no more than two Ethernet wired unit can be placed in two adjacent slots.
Regarding to access Ethernet unit correspondence see Figure 33 on page 61.
The total amount of Ethernet ports available are: (11 on main board + 14 on access board) x 6 = 150
ports each sub-rack.
In case of needs of more Ethernet ports it is possible to make use of the empty slots from 24 to 31 and
from 32 to 39. Six Ethernet units more, also in this case the units must be equally distributed, three
units on the left and three units on the right of the sub-rack. But these units will be used only to drive the
corresponding access Ethernet units.
By this way it is possible to add 14 x 6 = 84 Ethernet ports.
