Cabling the 8550 WSG
Use this procedure to connect the cables and AC power cords to the
8550 WSG. The cables run from the cable ports on the rear of the
8550 WSG. See section
1.3
for a view of the rear panel of the
8550 WSG.
Make the following cable connections:
•
the AC power cord connections
The 8550 WSG uses two power cords.
•
in a High Availability configuration, a connection from the High
Availability port on the rear of one 8550 WSG to the High
Availability port on the rear of the other 8550 WSG
Use the supplied 15-ft crossover Ethernet cable with RJ-45
connectors to make this connection.
•
a connection from the management port to the network switch
Use a straight Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors to make this
connection.
•
a connection from the four Ethernet data ports to a network switch
Use a straight through Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors for
this connection.

Danger —
Connecting cables to the 8550 WSG may cause electrical
shock. Ensure that you are grounded. Put on an antistatic wrist strap
and attach it to a grounding point on the rack.
Note —
Leave enough slack in the cables and power cords to prevent
damage to them when the 8550 WSG is extended from the rack.
