S
SFTP
Secure File Transfer Protocol.
SFTP is an interactive file-transfer program that uses the
Secure Shell (SSH) program to transfer files over the
network. SFTP encrypts both commands and data to
securely transmit passwords and sensitive information
securely over the network.
SOAP
simple object access protocol
SOAP provides a simple, extensible, and rich XML
messaging framework that defines application protocols that
offer increased interoperability in distributed environments.
It uses XML technologies to define the extensible messaging
framework, which provides a message construct that can be
exchanged over a variety of underlying protocols. SOAP
also defines a complete processing model that outlines how
messages are processed as they travel through a path.
SSL
secure sockets layer
A protocol for transmitting private documents over the
Internet. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys
to encrypt data, a public key and a private key known only
to the recipient of the message. By convention, URLs that
require an SSL connection start with https:// instead of
http://.
T
TCP
transmission control protocol
An Internet transport layer protocol, TCP is a
windows-based reliable transport protocol used for many
stream-related operations. TCP is the transport layer
protocol for the TCP/IP protocol suite. It is often referred to
in conjunction with the network layer protocol IP as TCP/IP.
