TROUBLESHOOTING AND GENERATOR
SET FAULTS
: At maintenance, repair and
service workings of the generator sets
involve dangers that may cause serious
personal injuries or death. Always ensure
that this work is performed by trained and
experienced service staff authorized in
written form by the manufacturer who are
informed in the electrical and mechanical
dangers. Always read and regard Safety
Precautions before this work.
: Inadvertent or remote
operation of the engine may cause
personal injuries or death. Always
disconnect battery terminals before
working on the engine. Always disconnect
the negative (-) battery cable firstly, and
re-connect the negative (-) battery cable
lastly to decrease any arcs when you are
disconnecting the battery cables.
Use the generator set control panel for
troubleshooting any faults or problems.
(Table 3) Always apply the following corrective
and preventive measures while troubleshooting.
Contact authorized service if you still cannot
resolve the problem. (Page 2-1)
NOTE: Many faults and problems on
generator sets may be prevented by
periodical maintenances. Most frequent
problem is running out fuel, and thus the
generator cannot be operated for this reason.
Always check whether fuel is available
properly to the generator set in all faults and
problems first. Generally, generator sets and
drive engines use the same main fuel tank in
sea vessels. In these cases where the same
main tank supply is used, fuel supply levels
are arranged so that fuel supply of generator
set is cut off first. Check whether you have
adjusted the generator set fuel warning to a
level before fully running out fuel; this will
allow you receive the warning before fully
running out fuel.
Diagnosis with Electronic Remote Control
Panel
Because of malfunction, when the generator
engine stopped, electronic remote control panel
alarm status lamp will burn out. (Figure 3, 4)
