Install the Infrared Detector
The infrared detector is installed on same side of the controller board as the push button
switches.

TSOP39238
IR Detector. If TSOP39238, it is etched
in the top with “V39238”. You’ll need
a magnifying glass to see the etched
letters
Remove the IR detector from its mounting frame. The mounting frame will not be used.
Leave the leads formed as they were. Insert the IR detector on the same side with the
switches, and solder the three leads on the other side of the controller PCB. The top
surface of the IR detector should be about 0.3” off the PCB.
You can set the height perfectly by using C2 (not yet installed, 2200 pF film capacitor
marked 2n2K63) underneath the IR detector. The spacing isn’t critical, but if you set it
too high off the board, it will bump into the IR window in the front panel.
