BRIDGE LIVE Video I/O and Streaming Appliance v1.12 47 www.aja.com
Chapter 6 – Basic Use Case: Simultaneous Bi-
Directional Encoding and Decoding
NOTE: BRIDGE LIVE supports simultaneous bi-directional encoding and decoding with
HD/SD. However, simultaneous bi-directional encoding and decoding is not
supported with UltraHD.
Receive up to three remote HD sources at a production studio using the public
Internet and return a program feed to a remote truck.
The production studio receives the incoming encoded stream sources from
the remote truck and decodes them into SDI for editing and production, while
simultaneously returning to the remote truck an encoded program feed.
The remote truck in turn receives and decodes the returned program feed for
program monitoring over SDI, while continuing to encode and transmit up to
three HD sources to the production studio.
Overview
This use case describes a scenario in which two BRIDGE LIVE devices are being
used. One device is installed in a Production Studio while a second device is
installed in a Remote Truck.
Remote Truck Role
The Remote Truck has an HD camera feeding an SDI input to BRIDGE LIVE. The
BRIDGE LIVE device encodes the HD input to H.264 and sends it as a stream to the
Production Studio.
Simultaneously, the BRIDGE LIVE in the Remote Truck is receiving a program feed
from the Production Studio as an H.264 stream and decoding it for output into
HD for an SDI monitor.
Production Studio Role
The BRIDGE LIVE installed in the Production Studio is receiving a camera feed
from the Remote Truck as an H.264 stream input. The BRIDGE LIVE device decodes
the H.264 stream into HD for contribution to the facility SDI router.
At the same time, the Production Studio is feeding its HD program return signal
to an SDI input on its BRIDGE LIVE device, encoding it into H.264, and streaming it
to the Remote Truck.
