5.3. VERIFYING SUITABILITY OF THE TRACTOR
DANGER!
Danger of breakage during operation, tractor stability, steering and braking capacity may be
insufficient in the event of non-compliant use.
s¬
Verify that the tractor is suitable before attaching or hooking the machine to the tractor.
s¬
Test the brakes to make sure that the tractor decelerates as required even when the machine is connected.
s¬
Specific requirements for tractor suitability:
- admissible overall weight
- admissible axle loads
- capacity of the tyres fitted.
These data can be found on the tractor’s rating plate, in the logbook and in the ”user manual”.
s¬
The tractor’s front axle must always support at least 20% of the tractor’s empty weight.
s¬
The tractor must achieve the deceleration required by the manufacturer even when the machine is connected.
5.3.1. CALCULATION OF THE FRONT BALLAST
DANGER!
Danger of crushing, cuts, entrapment, entrainment and collision in the event where tractor
stability, steering and braking capacity are insufficient.
CAUTION!
See the tractor’s logbook for the admissible values of overall tractor weight, axle loads and the
tyre capacity.
HOW TO CALCULATE THE FRONT BALLAST TO BE APPLIED TO THE TRACTOR
(Tractor /Fertilizer Spreaders stability calculation)
Due to the weight of the Fertilizer Spreaders and the material contained in the hopper, the combination of tractor and Fertilizer Spreaders
may become unstable.
To check overall stability of the machine, the following formula can be applied to determine the minimum front ballast (I
F,min
) to ensure
a weight of 20% of the tractor’s empty weight on the front axle:
I
F,min
=
(I
R
× (c + d)) - (T
F
× b) + (0,2 × T
E
× b)
(a + b)
