Safety Information
Before servicing the mainframe, familiarize yourself with the safety markings on the instrument
and the safety instructions in this manual. This instrument has been manufactured and tested
according to international safety standards. To ensure safe operation of the instrument and the
personal safety of the user and service personnel, the cautions and warnings in this manual must
be heeded. Refer to the summary of safety considerations at the front of this manual.
This product has been designed and tested in accordance with IEC Publication 1010, Safety
Requirements for Electronic Measuring Apparatus, and has been supplied in a safe condition.
The instruction documentation contains information and warnings which must be followed by
the user to ensure safe operation and to maintain the product in a safe condition.

These servicing instructions are for use by qualified personnel only. To avoid electrical shock, do
not perform any servicing unless you are qualified to do so.
WA R N I N G
The opening of covers or removal of parts is likely to expose dangerous voltages. Disconnect the
product from all voltage sources while it is opened.
WA R N I N G
The power cord is connected to internal capacitors that may remain live for five seconds after
disconnecting the plug from its power supply.
WA R N I N G
The detachable power cord is the instrument disconnecting device. It disconnects the mains
circuits from the mains supply before other parts of the instrument. The front panel switch is only
a standby switch and is not a LINE switch (disconnecting device).
WA R N I N G
This is a Safety Class 1 Product (provided with a protective earthing ground incorporated in the
power cord). The mains plug shall only be inserted in a socket outlet provided with a protective
earth contact. Any interruption of the protective conductor inside or outside of the product is likely
to make the product dangerous. Intentional interruption is prohibited.

Use of controls or adjustment or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may
result in hazardous radiation exposure.
C A U T I O N
Clean the cabinet using a damp cloth only.
N O T E
The warranty is null and void on instruments that have had the seals broken by the customer. The
instrument should only be disassembled by Agilent Technologies Customer Engineers.
