Replace the Ozone Trap
To replace the ozone trap:
1
Load a method to cool the detector, turn off the heaters, and
turn off the hydrogen flow.
•
Turn off the heaters and allow the burner to cool.
•
Leave the oxidizer flow on.
•
Turn off the hydrogen flow.
•
Turn off the vacuum pump.
•
Set the GC oven to 30 °C (or off) to minimize column
bleed.
•
Leave (helium) carrier gas flowing.

Allow the vacuum pump to cool to a safe handling
temperature.

Remove the trap assembly and vacuum hose from the
support bracket.

Loosen the two hose clamps that secure the old ozone trap in
place.

Remove the trap from the pump intake hose. (If needed,
loosen the clamp at the pump intake.)

Lift the old trap from the support bracket, then remove the
detector vacuum hose from the barbed fitting on the old trap.

Install the new trap. Make sure that the flow direction arrow
on the new trap points towards the intake fitting. (The trap
