This contains important information, including
safety instructions.
1 Subscribe to a network service
You need to subscribe to a network service provider
before you can use your Æ+Y phone. Services and
charges vary; ask your provider for details. Some
functions will be subject to your network service
provider’s SIM settings.
This phone is approved for use on GSM 850, 900, 1800
and 1900 networks.
2 Charge the battery
The battery delivered with your phone is not fully
charged. We recommend that you charge the battery
before you use your phone for the first time. The battery
will need recharging at regular intervals.
Your Æ+Y phone comes with a universal charger and
a selection of region-specific adaptor tips. Select the
correct adaptor tip for your region (see Inventory, page
13) and slot into the universal charger. Connect the USB
cable to the charger.

Micro-USB connector
Next, slide open the Charger port on the phone. Insert
the charger’s micro-USB connector gently to avoid
damaging the parts.
Check that the electrical rating of the AC outlet is
suitable for the adaptor. If they are compatible, plug in
the charger.
If you are charging your battery for the first time, or
the battery has run out completely, it may take up to 30
minutes before the battery charge level icon appears on
the screen.
If the phone is turned off while charging, only the
battery charge level icon will be visible on the screen.
An orange dot shows when the battery level is low.
A pulsing white dot shows that the battery is charging.
The white dot increases in size until the phone reaches
full charge. When the battery is fully charged, the battery
charge level icon will be a full static white dot.
Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to a
charger, as it may reduce the battery life span. When not
in use, unplug the charger from the electrical plug and
the phone.
Never use a charger that is damaged.
