Commissioning and Maintenance
Basic maintenance work to be carried out on all filters
ELECTRICAL HAZARD AND DANGER FROM ROTATING UNIT PARTS!
OBSERVE PERSONAL PROTECTION MEASURES.
In doing so, be sure to observe the safety information on page 24.
DANGER DUE TO COMBUSTIBLE SUBSTANCES!
The filter material may be combustible and may easily catch fire. With used filters, the
danger due to fire may be more acute depending on the substances filtered. Keep filters
away from open fire!
NOTE
We recommend that you never operate the system without a filter – always keep a set of
spare filters in reserve. Be sure to avoid damaging the surface of the filter as this may cause
the filter to break down during operation which means that the filter class can no longer be
guaranteed.
ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE!
Heavily contaminated filters are a danger to health and may adversely affect production
processes. Depending on the substances filtered, contaminated filters may need to be
treated as special waste and therefore disposed of professionally and in an environmentally
sustainable manner in accordance with applicable guidelines and legislation.
As a general rule, all filters must be checked at regular intervals according to the operating
conditions and renewed if necessary. The following maintenance steps must be carried
out:
• Check filter for soiling, damage and odours.
• Clean filter section.
• Check whether the maximum permissible pressure differential (see Guideline
RLT 01, for example) or pressure differential specified by manufacturer has been
exceeded; if so, replace the filter.
Hygiene inspection
Even if the filter shows no visible signs of contamination, fungi and microorganisms
may grow through the filter during long-term use (in air with low dust
content).
• The filter must be changed regularly (at least every 6-9 months), even if contamination
is barely visible.
