6. Press the SETUP button again to exit the Setup menu.
Notes:
• The Component port gives the best quality connection between the device and a television with PROGRESSIVE
SCAN.
• Only specific television sets support PROGRESSIVE SCAN. If you select the PROGRESSIVE option for a conven
-
tional (analogue) television, you will not be able to receive a picture.
• The menu item TV MODE is inactive if you have selected the option CVBS for the video output.
Setting the TV-Standard (PAL, NTSC, AUTO)
If the picture presentation of the TV does not work properly after connecting the DVD device (e.g. only black/white
reception, blurred colours), you must set the correct option for the TV standard/Colour transmission system (PAL,
AUTO or NTSC).
To select the correct colour transmission system for your TV, press the PAL/NTSC button. Each time you press the
PAL/NTSC button, you select a new TV-Standard - PAL, AUTO or NTSC.
Alternatively you can select the colour transmission system in the System Setup menu. To do so:
1. Whilst the disc is playing or after you have stopped play by pressing the STOP button, press the SETUP button
on the remote to open the Setup menu.

select the fourth icon PREFERENCE PAGE in the top menu bar and press the
PLAY/ENTER button to show the menu items.

select the menu item TV TYPE.
4. Then press the Navigation button

, to show the available options of the TV-Standard/colour transmission
system.

• PAL: Select this Option, if the DVD system is connected to a PAL system television. The PAL colour transmis
-
sion system is mainly used in Europe, but also in Australia and South America as well as in many African and
Asian countries.
• AUTO: Select this Option, if the DVD system is connected to a multi-system television (compatible with PAL
as well as the NTSC colour transmission system).
• NTSC: Select this Option, if the DVD system is connected to an NTSC system television. The NTSC colour
transmission system is used in many parts of the Americas and in several countries in the Far East.
6. Then press the PLAY/ENTER button to activate the setting.
7. Press the SETUP button to exit the Setup menu.
