Service Manual – Advance 7765 / Nilfisk CR1500

Troubleshooting

Problem

Cause

Correction

The steering

“wanders”.

Backlash in the spur gear

and rack

Adjust the rack so it’s closer to the spur gear.

The steering is hard

or “jerky”.

Not enough oil to the

steering system

Check the pump output and correct as necessary.

Check the priority flow divider and correct/replace as

necessary.

Removal and Installation

Warning! Before removing or reinstalling any machine components, make sure the key switch

is off, the key is removed from the machine and the parking brake is engaged.

Note:

If the steering cylinder is removed, mark the teeth where the rack engages the spur gear so

the rack and spur gear engage at the same location when the steering cylinder is reinstalled.
