Quick Startup Guide
SETTING UP THE IDSL LINE
The Express 6100/6120 works over leased or “dry” copper provided
by the local telephone company. See Specifications on page 4-1 for spec-
ifications on maximum distance.
1.
Connect a VT 100 async terminal, or personal computer with a
terminal emulator running 9600 N-8-1, to the MAINTENANCE
port.
2.
Hold down the
Control
key and press
R
; then press
Enter
to dis-
play the top menu.
3.
Using the arrow keys and
Enter
key to navigate the menu, go to
the
Configuration/WAN/ISDN
menu.
4.
Set the rate of transfer that will be used. Both devices must be set
at the same rate.
5.
Use the left arrow key or the
Escape
key to go back up the menu
tree. When asked to save ISDN parameters, type
y
.
6.
Connect the IDSL line to the RJ-45 jack labeled ISDN on the rear
panel. See Connector Pinouts on page D-1 for connector pinouts.
7.
When the Loop LED(s) remain solid, the Express 6100/6120 is in
synchronization.
8.
The Link LED will illuminate to indicate that PPP has success-
fully negotiated.
