10. Flow & Temperature Measurement
The integrated Grundfos VFS Flow Sensor and DEK1002 controller within the
MagnaClean
CMX Midi Pro Assist
&
Midi Pro
units constantly monitor and log the temperature of the
system water and the amount of water that passes through them. BSRIA guidance states
that when using sidestream filtration, 100% of the system water volume should have passed
through the sidestream filter within a 24-hour period. The
MagnaClean CMX Midi Pro Assist
&
MagnaClean CMX Midi Pro
units are designed for use on systems up to 93,000 litres in size.
The VFS flow sensor provides and logs real-time data around flow volume through the unit and filter:
a) Total water volume through the unit from the point of time the unit was last powered ON
b) Total water volume within the last 24 hours
c) Total water volume since the last Differential Pressure alarm activation
These facilities help meet the intent of
BSRIA Guides BG 29/2021 Pre-Commission Cleaning of
Pipework Systems
and
BG 50/2021 Water Treatment for Closed Heating & Cooling Systems
, for
products providing sidestream filtration and chemical dosing capabilities, as referenced in the
following sections of those guides and when installed in accordance with published guidelines:
- Sidestream filtration BG 29/2021; Section 2.3.8 and BG 50/2021; Section 3.4.2
- Chemical dosing facilities – BG29/2021; Section 2.3.8 and BG50/2021; Section 3.4.3
- Corrosion monitoring technology and services BG 29/2021; Section 2.3.8
The additional features of these products are also consistent with the descriptions in BG 50 including:
- Magnetic filtration BG 50/2021; Section 5.3.2
- Disposable media filters BG 50/2013; Section 5.3.3
- Passive deaeration BG 50/2013; Section 5.4.1
- Chemical water treatment BG 50/2021; Section 5.1
- Real-time monitoring of system parameters BG50/2021; Section 2.10
The VFS Sensor and DEK1002 controller also carefully monitor system water temperature
as it passes through the units. Low/high water temperature settings can be configured
as required, with automatic alarms when the configured low/high limits are reached. The
pump deactivates and the controller will not clear until a new service date is entered.
Both features help provide more pro-active maintenance, combining the security
of sensing technology with live data to warn you of critical system issues such as
pressure, temperature and flow and of course unit maintenance requirements,
ensuring the filter is always cleaning and protecting the system.
The ADEY
MagnaClean Monitored Filtration
™
range actively monitors system flow, pressure
differential and system water temperature, offering configurable BMS alarm connectivity.
These solutions are designed to actively monitor the system water and the active filtration
of any heating or chilled system in a sidestream configuration for 24 hours a day.
