-The IHMI-MPC power controller constantly monitor power control signal coming form the power controller of
the MPC processor board. This controller is usually accessed by the operating system through the
standardized ACPI interface. Some operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows XPe, Windows 7 and
Windows 8 natively support the ACPI interface.
Note: the ACPI mode must be enabled in the SETUP of the processor board.
-A proprietary interface can be accessed by software to implement the dialog with the IHMI-MPC power
controller. Refer to the PROGRAMMING INTERFACE chapter for detailed information.
A SMBus driver (SCHSMBUS.SYS) is available for Windows XP, Windows XPe, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
The PWR.EXE utility demonstrates how this interface can be used.
The operating system can be configured to shutdown or to go to standby mode when the ignition signal is
switched off. Under Windows, this parameter is named “When I press the power button on my computer” in
the “Power options” of the “Configuration panel”.
- If the selected action is “Shut down” and the ignition signal is switched off, the IHMI v2 goes to the power
down mode (state 1) at the end of the operating system shutdown. In this state, the vehicle battery power can
be removed. When the ignition signal is switched back on, the operating system reboots.
- If the selected action is “Standby”, the IHMI v2 goes to the standby mode (state 4) when the ignition signal is
switched off. All the state of the system is saved in the DRAM of the MPC board. In this state, the vehicle
battery power must NOT be removed. When the ignition signal is switched back on or after 4 hours, the IHMI
v2 returns to the running mode very quickly.
When leaving the standby state, the application must check the wakeup reason. If it is because the 4 hours
delay is exhausted, the application must force an operating system shutdown. This mechanism must be
implemented in order to avoid vehicle battery draining.
Inputs/Outputs
The legacy vehicle specific interface can be accessed under Windows XP, Windows XPe, Windows 7 and
Windows 8 through the MPC.SYS driver. The MPCTEST.EXE utility can be used to view the state of the
inputs and modify the outputs of the mixing panel.
