Installing Bed Knives
1. Install the new or re-sharpened bed knife.
2. Make sure that the knife is fully back against the knife adjusting screws and loosen the
adjusting screw check nuts slightly.
3. Do not torque the socket cap screws fully at this point; just snug them down
.
5-5 Removing and Replacing Screens
Removing Screens
1. Remove the screen while the upper cutting chamber is in the open position.
2. Remove the screen from the rear of the chamber in a radial motion.

If any granulate is present in the chamber, slowly rotate the rotor forward by hand
to assist in the removal of the screen.

CAUTION
EXERCISE EXTREME CARE when rotating rotors.
Knives are SHARP!
Installing Screens
1. Before installing the screen, make sure all contact surfaces are clean of granulated
particles.
2. Insert the screen in a radial motion, beginning at the rear of the chamber.
3. The screen is in position when its travel is limited by the bed knife located on the front
wall of the cutting chamber.

Close the cutting chamber and insert a .015” feeler gauge between the upper and lower
chamber.
5. See Figure 6 for the proper location of the feeler gauge.
6. Adjust the screen adjusting bar located on the rear of the upper cutting chamber (see
Figure 7) by loosening three (3)

” – 16 UNC bolts.
7. Lower the adjusting bar until it rests on the screen.
8. Secure the bolts, remove the feeler gauge, and proceed with closing the chamber.
Note: This is a one-time adjustment only, to be performed when a different screen is installed in
the granulator.
