Electrical Testing
Before applying power to the machine, check the incoming voltage from
L1
to
L2
to
L3
, and
L1
to
L3
(see the wiring diagram packed with the machine). The voltage should be the same as
indicated on the silver tag in the control enclosure. If the voltage is not the same, contact the
ACS Group Service Department at 262-641-3950 for voltage modification instructions.
Once you have determined that the voltages are proper, start the motor and check for the proper
rotation direction:
1.
Turn the main disconnect switch to the
ON
position.
2.
Press the granulator
START
push button (fan must be on if supplied) to power the
granulator motor.
Note:
All downstream equipment must be installed
before
the granulator can start.
3.
Visually compare the direction of motor shaft rotation to the rotation arrow label
(clockwise when viewed from the shaft end). If the motor turns in the opposite direction,
reverse any two incoming power leads.
Testing Remaining Electrical Controls
Once the rotation direction is correct, the remaining electrical controls need to be tested as
follows:
1.
Press the granulator
Stop
push button and allow the machine to stop.
2.
For granulators equipped with conveyors, fans, etc., test their operation by pressing the
appropriate push button. Check fan outlet for proper airflow.
3.
Retract the threaded actuator of the safety interlock switch (red block-like switch
enclosure) at the back cutting chamber to verify that the machine shuts off. Engage the
threaded actuator back into position to re-engage the safety interlock switch.
Independent of the previous safety interlock switch test, the safety interlock switch on the hopper
side clean-out door must also be tested. Once the cutting chamber safety interlock is engaged,
retract the threaded actuator of the safety limit switch on the hopper side clean-out door.
Make
certain that removal of the limit switch actuator bracket shuts the machine off.
