functions are tested under MS DOS V6.22, Microsoft Windows 98 SE (EN/TW), Microsoft Windows 2000 
Professional (EN/TW), Microsoft Win95/NT 4.0 Workstation, Novell Netware 4.2 & 5.1, SCO UNIX/Red Hat
