11 Dismounting
Dismounting may only be carried out by specialized personnel. Please make
sure that the shutdown procedures are strictly observed before the dismounting
work begins. Ensure this also for the components integrated into the welding
system.
Fault
Cause
Solution
Pilot arc is not ignited
• Tungsten electrode and plasma
nozzle make contact
• Distance between tungsten
electrode and plasma nozzle
too large
• Tungsten electrode is worn out
or oxidized
• Re-adjust electrode
• Re-adjust electrode
• Re-sharpen and adjust
electrode
Main arc is not ignited
• Distance between work-piece
and torch too large
• Pilot arc is not burning
• Shorten distance
• Ignite pilot arc
Torch body or power supply
cable overheated
• Inadequate flow of coolant.
• Welding current too high.
• Coolant hose or liquid-cooled
power cable constricted or
closed.
• Check/repair
• Lower welding current
• Remove constriction, replace
cable assembly, if necessary
Pilot or main arc is burning
skewed
• Tungsten electrode worn out
• Plasma nozzle worn out
• Centering ceramics is missing
• Sharpen tungsten electrode
• Replace plasma nozzle
• Replace centering ceramics
Wire delivery is not working
• Plug not connected properly.
• Connect plug
• Check electric connection

For the entire duration of maintenance, servicing, dismounting and repair
work, the following instructions must be adhered to:
• Switch off the power supply.
• Close off the gas supply.
• Close off the compressed air supply.
• Switch off the entire welding system.
• Pull the mains plug.
