Enable RBAC authentication on communication ports
Enabling RBAC authentication on communication ports secures access to the device. Connection to the
ports requires authentication with correct credentials. Select one of the methods described in this
section. Review the authentication options in
Table 9-7: Per-port RBAC authentication options

Enables full security over the port to RBAC. If the administrator name and/or password
are lost or forgotten, it will be necessary to reset to the factory default configuration.
Note that all data and the running configuration will be deleted.

Enables security over the port to RBAC but allows the electronic board security switch
to override RBAC security. If the administrator name and/or password are lost or
forgotten, RBAC may be disabled using the security switch. By setting the switch to
the OFF position, a user may log in and reconfigure the security access. No data will be
lost.
