2.9. Mechanical mounting
Only specialist personnel may carry out mechanical mounting of the two-hand operating unit
JSD-TD25P-xxxxxx/JSTD25P-1. As the control unit is portable and can be moved freely, mechanical
mounting is limited to the attachment of holder JSD-SBFW-xxx built-in on the operating unit (optionally
of the sensor element ADAM) to one or more suitable locations on the machine.
When mounting the control unit or the specially adapted holder ensure that the requirements of the
relevant standards are met.
Note:
Basically, appropriate protective measures must be taken for every position the employee uses when
operating the machine.
If the risk assessment requires the use of EN ISO 13855:2010, the following should be ensured:
the control devices of a operating unit must be sufficiently far from the source of the hazard to permit
the hazardous movement to cease before at least one hand can enter the hazard area after an actuator
is released.
The safety distance S is dependent on the constant K = approach speed = 1,600 mm/s and the variable
T = total stopping time for the hazardous machine function, including the reaction time of the safety
switching devices, in seconds.
The safety distance S is calculated as follows: S = K x T+ (C).
However, irrespective of the result of the calculation, the safety distance may never be less than the
absolute value of 100 mm. Refer to EN ISO 13855:2010 (Positioning of safeguards with respect to the
approach speeds of parts of the human body) for more information.
The holder JSD-SBFW-xxx and any mounted safety sensors must be mounted in such a way that it is
not possible to remove them easily.
Response times for use of the control unit in conjunction with safety switching devices are provided in
the respective original operating instructions.
The follow-up time of the machine or the dangerous movement after deactivation must be determined
according to the manufacturer’s instructions or based on readings.
The currently valid machinery directive and the harmonized standards must be observed here.
The safety distance must then be adequately dimensioned, or entry into hazardous areas must be
prevented, when the position of the two-hand operating unit is operated without secure polling the Eden
sensor element.
2.10. Electrical connection
Only a specialist electrician may carry out the electrical connection of the operating unit / actuator
combination JSD-TD25P-xxxxxx. The operating unit is connected according to the article-specific
datasheet enclosed with the article.
