Installation Of Extended Trigger:

NOTE:  UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE WALL OUTLET.

1.

Remove ribbon frame assembly.

2.

Remove base plate/circuit board assembly.

3.

Loosen trigger top screw only slightly and push top toward rear of machine.

4.

Using your left index finger, hold the hex nut and lockwasher in place and
remove

the screw and trigger top.

5.

Still holding the nut and washer, place the extension support on the trigger.
Insert screw and secure the assembly

(figure 9)

6.

Adjust for depth as shown in

figure 10

7.

Reinstall base plate/circuit board assembly and ribbon frame assembly.

Adjusting Uniformity of Imprint:

NOTE:  UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE WALL OUTLET.

First, be sure that the inked ribbon is in good condition.  Next, check the condition of
the type-wheels.  If the operator has carelessly stamped documents with paper clips
attached, the characters on the wheels may be damaged.  On older machines, some
characters may wear down with time and usage.  Both problems reduce imprint
definition.  If the unit passes these first two visual checks, make a sample imprint and
examine it.  It should be uniform for all letters and numbers.  If the imprint is uneven
from side to side or top to bottom, adjust the print solenoid frame by either of the two
methods below:

1.

Adjusting Solenoid Frame:

If the imprint is weak on the left side, loosen the four #8-32 solenoid mounting screws.
Use a 1/16" Allen wrench to turn the two #8-32 socket set screws on left side of the
solenoid frame to help even the imprint.  Follow the same procedure to adjust the
appropriate set screws for weakness on the right, top or bottom of imprint.

2. Die Plate Adjustments:

If the frame adjustment described in the preceding paragraph does not correct the
condition, use the following procedure: loosen the two #3-48 flat head screws that hold
the die plate to the type-section frame.  Cut a length of thin paper the size and width of
the weak area on the die plate and place the paper between the die plate and the top
frame.  Retighten the die plate mounting screws and take a sample imprint.  If the
imprint is improved but still has uneven areas you may file the rubber platen.  To help
you find the area to file, take a length of twine and hold   one end in each hand.  Insert
the twine into the machine until you hit the trigger

top and the machine prints.

By doing this, a sample inked imprint will appear on the rubber platen, showing areas
of heavy print.  Now take a narrow file and very carefully file away rubber from the
heavy inked area.  Repeat procedure until print is satisfactory.

NOTE:  UNPLUG THE MACHINE FROM THE WALL OUTLET.
