8.11 DNS
DNS (Domain Name System) is for mapping a domain name to its corresponding IP address and vice
versa. Use the
DNS
screen to configure and view the default DNS servers on the Switch.

The following table describes the labels in this
screen.
Domain-List
This field displays whether the Switch obtains a list of domain names from the DHCP server.

This field displays the time interval (in seconds) at which the Switch exchanges other configuration
information with a DHCPv6 server again.

Static Domain Name Server
Preference
This is the priority of the DNS server address.
Server Address
Enter a domain name server IPv6/IPv4 address in order to be able to use a domain name
instead of an IP address.
Apply
Click
Apply
to save your changes to the Switch’s run-time memory. The Switch loses these
changes if it is turned off or loses power, so use the
Save
link on the top navigation panel to
save your changes to the nonvolatile memory when you are done configuring.
Cancel
Click
Cancel
to reset the fields to your previous configuration.
Domain Name Server Table
Index
This field displays priority of the DNS server address.
Server Address
This field displays the IP address of the DNS server.
Source
This field displays whether the DNS server address is configured manually (
Static
) or
obtained automatically using
DHCPv4
or
DHCPv6
.
