9.1 O ve rvie w

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual clients to obtain
TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the LTE3301’s LAN as a DHCP server or
disable it. When configured as a server, the LTE3301 provides the TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If
DHCP service is disabled, you must have another DHCP server on your LAN, or else the computer must
be manually configured.

9.1.2 Wha t Yo u Ne e d To Kno w

The following terms and concepts may help as you read through this chapter.

MAC Addre sse s

Every Ethernet device has a unique MAC (Media Access Control) address. The MAC address is assigned
at the factory and consists of six pairs of hexadecimal characters, for example, 00:A0:C5:00:00:02. Find
out the MAC addresses of your network devices if you intend to add them to the

screen.

IP Po o l Se tup

The LTE3301 is pre-configured with a pool of 32 IP addresses starting from 192.168.1.33 to 192.168.1.64. This
configuration leaves 31 IP addresses (excluding the LTE3301 itself) in the lower range (192.168.1.2 to
192.168.1.32) for other server computers, for instance, servers for mail, FTP, TFTP, web, etc., that you may
have.

The LTE3301 has built-in DHCP server capability that assigns IP addresses to systems that support DHCP
client capability. Use this screen to enable the DHCP server. Click
