1.1 System Background
ZXSDR BS8908 is the GSM outdoor micro base station, which is a product of ZXSDR
series base stations of ZTE Corporation.
ZTE Corporation has launched various series of base stations to satisfy operators'
demands. Of the ZTE base station solutions, one is to divide the base station into two
units: Base Band Unit (BBU) and Remote Radio Unit (RRU). BS8908 is a base station
with BBU and RRU being integrated. It can work as an independent base station or
an independent RRU/BBU. It features with small volume, light weight, and low power
consumption. It also enjoys flexible installation modes such as tower-top installation,
wall-mounted installation, and pole-mounted installation.

The GSM system consists of four parts: BTS , BSC , CN , and MS , as shown in Figure 1-1 .
